PIAB’s New P6040 Provides a Modular Solution in a Smart Design:
PIAB, introduces its P6040 pump range. Featuring patented COAX® technology, the P6040 can reduce energy costs by up to 25% or more compared to other methods of generating vacuum. With flexible mounting options, an extensive performance range and optional control functions, the P6040 is highly adaptable and well suited for most industrial vacuum applications.
The P6040 offers powerful suction in a small package due to COAX® technology. This allows the pump to be mounted close to the point-of-suction, resulting in smaller pump requirements with lessened energy needs.
A natural extension of PIAB’s P6010 pumps, the P6040’s operating efficiency is further optimized with integrated control options
The patented COAX® technology featured in a P6040 consists of three main types of cartridges, Pi, Si and Xi for different applications:
Pi – Pi cartridges have been developed to achieve a high vacuum level at low feed pressures. They are ideal when pressures in compressed air lines fluctuate and are recommended in situations such as handling sheet metal or glass or other non-porous products, where you need good vacuum flow and a high-level vacuum. Pi can deliver high vacuum levels down to 90 –kPa.
Si – Si cartridges are designed to provide extra vacuum flow. They are highly recommended for handling porous materials such as corrugated board and for high-volume evacuation in, for example, a fast-cycling system where it is necessary to compensate for leakage in order to maintain the vacuum level. Si cartridges can deliver moderate vacuum levels down to 75 -kPa.
Xi – Xi cartridges are designed to provide high flow at deep vacuum levels and are ideal for use at moderate feed pressures. The Xi cartridge model makes COAX® technology available for new applications such as injection molding and thermo forming. Within process vacuum applications, the Xi is recommended for drying, mixing, degassing and evaporation, and can deliver high vacuum levels down to 95 -kPa.
A natural extension of PIAB’s P6010 pumps, the P6040’s operating efficiency is further optimized with integrated control options like Energy Saving (ES), helping companies reduce carbon footprint and improve conservation efforts. On many machines the mechanical vacuum pumps or single-stage ejectors waste energy which results in excess noise and heat. The COAX® technology puts energy to maximum use, and results in reduced compressed air needs and low noise levels for the P6040, providing a peaceful and comfortable working atmosphere.
Further improving the environment, while also protecting sensitive products from static charge, is the pump’s blow function. As compressed air is cooled, blow-out air is also cooled. To ensure reliable separation, blow air is used for dividing thin sheets of material like plastic film or paper. The P6040 generates a strong flow for blow function at low pressure. When compressed air expands through the COAX® cartridge, intake vacuum flow is added to the flow of the air. Thus, one normal liter of compressed air results in as much as five liters of blow air.
The modular P6040 features an anodized aluminum housing to withstand even the most demanding environments and is so strong that it can be used as a support. Upgrading existing equipment for better performance is simple, while using the P6040 on new machines ensures trouble-free operation in the most economical way. With no moving parts or heat generation, and virtually no maintenance required, downtime and work stoppage are drastically reduced.
piCLASSIC Si32-3:
piCLASSIC Si32-3
These are vacuum pumps of a standard (classic) design and range from very small chip pumps to large capacity pumps. Most of the pumps have the COAX® cartridge inside, A vacuum system based on COAX® technology can provide you with three times more vacuum flow than conventional systems, allowing you to increase speed with high reliability while reducing energy consumption.
Reduced energy consumption and downtime in tooling and transferring process
Background
A manufacturer of military and commercial airplanes uses vacuum to hold plastic, wood and aluminium plates during tooling and transferring processes. The currently used electric vacuum pumps sometimes contaminated the industrial water circuit with leaking cooling liquid, causing a lot of downtime issues for the company.
Solution
Piab’s MLL200 and MLL400 vacuum pumps were installed and the risk of water contamination was reduced to zero since these pumps do not use water. The MLL pumps were chosen due to the need for fast evacuation, as a large vacuum reservoir must be kept for security reasons. Non-return valves and vacuum switches were also installed for energy saving purposes and low vacuum level alarm.
Result
Since the installation of the MLL pumps, the customer has recognized a reduction in energy consumption, maintenance costs and noise level.
piGRIP® Configurable suction cups:
Thousands of suction cups are ready to improve your machine.
The piGRIP® is a unique configurable suction cup concept with individually optimized parts for gripping, lifting and height compensation. Also a large selection of fittings makes it ready to fit new machines and easy to retrofit existing cups. The fittings available are both threaded and push on fittings.
The piGRIP® has firm and stable 1-, 3- and 6- folded bellows allows for faster machine speeds and thin-wall design makes them faster to compress using less force and energy. Not to forget the strength of the material increases lifting capacity between 30-50% compared to similar conventional cups.
A low micron filter disc inside the bellows is availabe to traps dust and particles for increasing the system reliability. Also a mesh filter is available in the fitting.
Get an excellent grip on almost anything with the right lip for your application. Choose standard lips from 60° shore to extremely flexible, soft lips in 30° shore. Tailor-made Bag lips for handling bags and pouche are also availabe even foam lips for objects which are difficult to grip with traditional cups.
