Measuring Equipments

Temperature Measuring Unit For Star

The temperature of the cargo and vapor in the tank can be measured with up to five different sensors distributed over the tank height with both three and four wire connections. The temperature data is processed by the tank gauge electronics (tge) and sent to the supply and communications unit (scu). The temperature can be monitored from the workstation, the tank gauge display, channel display unit or on the portable readout system.
The temperature measuring unit (tmu) is mounted on deck. The connection box (tmb) is located inside the tmu. The temperature sensors (tms) shall be located in a thermowell extended through the tank below the tmb.

the tms is a pt100 element with a three (standard) or four (high accuracy) wire connection. The tmb can be connected with up to five temperature measuring sensors.
All communication between the tank gauge unit and the tmb is performed through a sensor bus.

Data Acquisition Unit

The Data Acquisition Unit (DAU 2100) is used together with an associated Radar Tank Gauge for local readout and for connection of temperature sensors.
A Multiple Spot Thermometer (MST) with up to 14 temperature elements can be connected to the DAU.
The DAU can be equipped with a Readout Display showing level, temperature and other measured values. With the DAU placed at the foot of the tank, these values can be viewed at the tank without having to climb to the tank top.
If required, the DAU can also be placed at the tank top.
The DAU is powered from, and communicates through the Radar Tank Gauge to which it is connected. It is intrinsically safe using zener barriers on the Transmitter Interface Card (TIC) in the Radar Tank Gauge.

Leveldatic – Ballast Measurement

Input – rotary or linear movement
Two limit switches (soft switches – no contacts)
Power module life: 1 minute update rate – 8 years / optional module – 10 years
Engineered resin housing, designed for use in higher chemical concentrated locations

Liquid Level Switch

Rosemount 2120 is a reliable high level alarm switch for hydrocarbon storage tanks. It detects if the liquid level is high, and sends an alarm signal to shut any feed line valves or pumps to prevent tank overfilling and subsequent spillage.

The rosemount extended length 2120 is fitted to a nozzle at the tank roof, either directly or by use of an adjustable clamp gland. This tuning fork style switch is designed to vibrate the forks at their natural frequency. Should the liquid level rise to the high level height, the forks become immersed in the liquid and the frequency of vibration changes. The built-in control electronics detects this change and indicates an alarm condition by switching the output.
rosemount 2120 can be set to switch either if the forks get wet or dry, and both explosionproof, and sil2 i. S. Models are available.

Electronic Boards

The I/O Box (IOB) connects the Workstation Unit with the Supply and Communications Unit (SCU) as well as other equipment such as ship main computer, load calculator and a wide range of analog/digital inputs and outputs. Distributed I/O modules are connected to the IOB via a serial interface.
The IOB consists of an electronic board with power supply, relays and connectors for seven serial interface boards. The IOB provides galvanic isolation between the Workstation Unit and other equipment. When required it also provides interface conversion, for example RS-232 and RS-485.

Water Level Sensor

The capacitive water level sensor (wls) continuously measures free water level below the oil surface and provides input for on-line net inventory. The sensor is integrated with the multiple spot thermometer (mst).

The wls is welded to the mst to get a hermetic design and it has no moving parts. The wls output is an analog 4-20 ma or digital hart signal, which is connected directly to a radar gauge.

UHF Radio

It is possible to use high speed UHF Radio Modems instead of cable to make point-to-point connection between the control room and the Field Communication Unit (FCU). Communication is completely transparent so the radio modems work just like a cable connection.
The radio modem can be connected to the serial port on the TankMaster PC / Host Computer or to the group bus port of an FCU.
In case there is a need to extend the coverage, a radio modem can be used as a repeater.
Depending on topographical conditions as well as gain and installation height of the antenna, the operating range is up to 40 km (25 miles).
